About Sue Nichols

Painting watercolors for more than 30 years, Sue specializes in amusement parks, carnivals and fairs. Most of her work is done from her own photographs as she travels around the US and Canada.
Since 1981, she has worked in the amusement industry, first for National Ticket Company, then Amusement Business magazine. Currently, she represents and Amusement Today, and Chestnut ID Apparel, and paints commissioned artwork for the amusement industry and other clients.
Some original watercolor paintings are for sale on this site, as well as prints, note cards, ceramic & wood tile boxes, cutting boards and welcome signs. Newest items are tile trays, coffee mugs, and wine boxes. Paypal is accepted. Please contact her for customized merchandise with your logo and wording.
Exciting new career developments:
In 2008, Chestnut ID licensed 32 paintings for a carnival camp shirt, which they sell on their website at: http://www.amusementline.com/shirts/carnicamp/carnicamp.html
In 2007, Current Inc, licensed four of her amusement park and fair designs for their scrapbooking catalog. It is out of print, but you can contact Sue, as she has a small inventory available.
Her artwork also appears in the Quentin Tarantino film "Deathproof" portion of the "Grindhouse" movie. Six of her rural Tennessee scenes, including the Studebaker truck, Down Home Motors, Two Old Trucks, Eagles Mere Beer, and Log Shed appear in a long cafe scene in the movie. She exhibits at two industry trade shows every year: Gibtown, the International Independent Showmen's Association, which is February 9-13, 2010 in Gibsonton, FL (near Tampa). And also at the SLA, Showmen's League of America conference in Las Vegas. November 29 & 30, 2010.
Sue's art is owned by many amusement parks, carnivals, fairs and ride manufacturers. Some items are available in the gift shops at Kennywood Park, Knoebels Amusement Park, Idlewild Park, and DelGrosso's Amusement Park, all in PA.
